War hero Simon Weston to speak at Chamber Dinner

York & North Yorkshire Chamber, part of West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce have announced Falklands hero Simon Weston OBE as guest speaker at the Annual Dinner in York on 27th March 2014.

Simon Weston was a Welsh Guardsman on board the Sir Galahad in 1982 when it was attacked during the Falkland war. Since then Simon has become a face and name well known for his struggle to overcome his injuries and redefine his role in life.

Simon’s message is one of achievement, of triumph over adversity and of seizing the moment and succeeding. Now a professional motivational speaker with over 20 years’ experience Simon not only talks about overcoming adversity and having a positive mental attitude but also of his experiences of being in the public eye over the last 30 years. The Dinner, which is returning to the National Railway Museum in York, is a popular event regularly attracting over 500 senior business leaders from across the area.

Suzanne Burnett, President of York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming guests to this wonderful venue again, and with a such an inspirational and interesting guest speaker in Simon we’re sure it will be another successful dinner.”

Guests will also be entertained by the Pocklington School Swing Band who are performing during the drinks reception.
