Nick’s blog on the British Chambers’ conference

West & North Yorkshire board director and Bradford Chamber’s Vice-President, Nick Garthwaite of Christeyns provides his own thoughts on yesterday’s British Chambers’ conference which saw speeches from the Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP and Dr Wolfgang Schäuble, Germany’s Federal Minister of Finance.

Nick said:” I had a most enjoyable day yesterday at the British Chambers of Commerce annual conference at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre. There were many tremendous and thought provoking speakers; some excellent views on Brexit with balanced (and sometimes lively discussion!)

“Dr Wolfgang Schauble, Germany’s Federal Minister of Finance and George Osborne were very good and had common views on not leaving. A session on Britain’s infrastructure with speakers from National Grid, Network Rail and Heathrow was also illuminating – did you know that the London Crossrail project has been nearly 40 years in the discussion through to implementation stage – as my school report always use to say “must do better”!

Final speaker of the day, Margaret Heffernan on how to be a Leader was absolutely first class. All in all an excellent event!”
