It is estimated that the new entrance at Leeds railway station, which opened this month, will save around 20% of the station’s 100,000 daily passengers close to an hour of travelling time each week.
Thousands of commuters are said to be benefiting from the city centre station’s £20m Southern Entrance, which offers a direct link to the regenerated south bank area. The scheme has been a joint venture between West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Leeds Council, the Department for Transport and Network Rail.
The South Bank has undergone a transformation in recent years and now houses major developments including Holbeck Urban Village, Leeds Dock, plus office developments such as Bridgewater Place and Asda’s UK headquarters.
