Growth has slowed but QES shows confidence remains

The Chamber’s latest Quarterly Economic Survey (Q4 2014)  has been released. 664 business owners and managers provided their feedback on business conditions for the last quarter of the year.

Companies signalled a cautious end to 2014 as the pace of growth slowed for the second consecutive quarter. Despite this, confidence remains high within the service sector; Leeds in particular recorded its highest level since 2004. Manufacturers showed more reserve with confidence slipping back to levels last seen in Q2 2003, symptomatic perhaps of slowing export sales and a decline in global trade.
