For the third year running, businesses across the district opened their doors to students as part of the Work Inspiration Week programme, organised by E3 Bradford. The aim of the programme was to inspire the students about their future careers and inform them of the job opportunities available.
During the week, which ran from 27th April to 1st May, 19 businesses, in industries including engineering; retail; utilities; chemicals; public relations; travel and tourism; banking and finance; and construction, welcomed students from eight secondary schools, two primary schools and two Further Education providers. Twenty three separate visits took place, with businesses conducting site tours, delivering presentations, conducting ‘question and answer’ sessions and engaging the students in practical activities.
Sue Mason, Careers Coordinator at Beckfoot School commented about their visit to Gordons LLP: “The students gained inside knowledge of the process of the company. They were given excellent information about the subjects they required and the degree they needed to do and the result required. It definitely motivated the Year 11 students to think that they could choose either the apprenticeship route or University route. They had many questions which were all answered well by the staff. The visit was definitely worth it and also helped me understand more to enable me to pass on to students in the future. I also have links with the company and hope to engage with them again.”
